About Jean Edwards
“Shapes, the world is made up of shapes” Jean says. Most people see a window or a chair, Jean literally sees a series of interconnected shapes that make up the object. She realized while quite young that this difference in perception of the world gave her an “artist’s eye” that she would spend her life expressing through painting, sculpting, and sketches trying to show the world the beauty she saw through her different perception of the world.
Jean discovered that her different way of seeing the world expressed itself vividly and naturally through photography. She does not consider herself a photographer, rather an artist that uses a camera instead of a brush. She does not “setup” shots, but rather captures her perceptions in the instant they occur. What one sees in her art-photography is what Jean sees.
Jean hopes that her art-photography helps to wakeup people’s consciousness to the beauty that is all around them in their everyday world; to see the world, “Through Jean’s eyes”.
